It’s summertime in Germany and in towns and cities across the Federal Republic, people are packing their bags and heading for the coasts or taking to the skies. For those of you who can’t get away right now, Young Germany has got just the thing.

Large provincial German cities like Frankfurt, Cologne and Bremen are often thought of as being grey, dull and not the ideal place to spend your summer. The Ruhr area above all, with cities like Essen, Dortmund and Duisburg, is about the last place people – both in Germany and abroad – would consider as an ideal holiday destination. Instead, everyone is heading for the coasts or the Alps.
