The event Virtual Trained in GermanY Brasil 2013 helps Brazilians online and in-person connect with German employers, research institutions and organizations. Sponsored by the organization Alumniportal Deutschland, the career fair creates a network for Brazilians with some experience in Germany to find out about new internships, career development programs and job vacancies.

Companies and organizations will post presentations online for those attending the fair virtually.  Recruiters will be able to review the online profiles of interested applicants and connect with them regarding different opportunities. The event provides a forum for Brazilians to get their questions about Germany answered and to find out which German companies or organizations might be the best fit for their interests.

Registration for the event, which takes place on August 27, 2013 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., is free. Those attending virtually should first register with Alumniportal Deutschland. The organization says those applicants with more comprehensively filled-out profiles will be more visible to the participating companies at the career fair.

The requirements to participate are relatively simple. Those with solid German skills or previous experience working or studying in Germany are encouraged to register. Virtual attendees should have current Java installation or HTML5 browser (Chrome, Safari), an internet connection with at least 500 kbit/s bandwidth, Windows (XP), Apple (OS X 10.7) or Linux. Also, a sound card with speakers or headphones is needed.

The career fair in Brazil is just one of the ways Alumniportal Deutschland reaches out to people with an interest in Germany. A similar career fair will take place for interested applicants in India this September. The organization also sponsors an online community, which includes forums for discussion, webinars, and blogs. On the Alumniportal Deutschland website, visitors can sample an international exchange of jobs, portraits of employers, alumni networks, language resources, an education database and a worldwide event calendar. Alumniportal Deutschland is a joint project of German organizations of development policy and economic, cultural and scientific cooperation. It is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
