A new symbol for the world. The heart stands for love, a white dove for peace. Since 2011 there has also been a logo for human rights: a combination of a hand and a bird, in bright blue, a distinctive design with high recognition value. The new logo was designed by Predrag Štakić. The young graphic artist from Serbia won the unusual global competition called A Logo for Human Rights, of which Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle was the patron. People from more than 190 countries sent in a total of 15,369 logo designs, from which an online ballot shortlisted 100. A high-ranking international panel of judges – including, among others, Nobel Peace Prize laureates Aung San Suu Kyi, Jimmy Carter, Muhammad Yunus and Shirin Ebadi – selected the 10 finalists. Then, in turn, the global Internet community was allowed to agree on the winners. Foreign Minister Westerwelle presented Predrag Štakić with the first prize n New York.
Since then this universal logo for human rights is being distributed and publicized worldwide. And everyone can contribute: you can download the logo in various formats as well as artwork masters and photographic and film material about the initiative from humanrightslogo.net/download. Everyone can use the logo free of charge and thereby promote the protection of human rights.
