Akademie Schloss Solitude celebrates 20 years with events, new partnerships
With its press conference on February 3, the Akademie Schloss Solitude announced its jubilee celebration of twenty years. In the spring of 1990, the renovation of the Schloss Solitude buildings was complete, and the Akademie was able to move into its home and welcome its first fellows.

The Akademie Schloss Solitude, itself a cultural institution, will celebrate its 20-year jubilee throughout the year. More than 850 scholars from 90 countries have lived and studied at the Akademie since its founding, thanks in part to the financial support of the state of Baden-Württemberg.
During 2010, the Akademie will involve as many fellows and partner institutions for the events to be held over the course of the year as possible. The jubilee is primarily an institutional event, but interdisciplinary topics and the fellows themselves will be in the forefront, as part of a vibrant international network built over the past twenty years.
Among them are renowned artists like Neo Rauch, Karin Sander, René Pollesch, Elmar Goerden, Karin Beier, Helmut Oehring, Roland Kluttig, Mark André, Durs Grünbein, Terezia Mora, Raoul Schrott, Karen Duve and Tilman Rammstedt.
A year of events and a future of scientific cooperation
The series of events for the 20th anniversary year, supported by the Landesstiftung Foundation of Baden-Württemberg, consists of five major exhibits, an anniversary concert with 50 two-minute compositions, a reading series, a special summer festival on July 3, and a documentary film about the academy which will premier on December 3.
The events will be realized in cooperation with the Württemberg Art Association, the Institute for International Relations, the French Institute of Stuttgart, the Literaturhaus Stuttgart and the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg, to name but a few.
The celebratory year will not just be devoted to events, however, but will be driven by the energy and ideas of its current fellows. New collaborations in the field of science, for example with the Universität Konstanz, the Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen and the FRIAS (Freiburg Institute of Advanced Studies) of the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität in Freiburg in Breisgau, are also on the horizon.
Applications will be accepted July 1-October 31 from talented artists interested in becoming part of the Akademie network in 2011-2012. Additional information is available at the Akademie website.
