Studying in Germany with the DAAD
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the German national agency for the support of international academic cooperation. The agency offers programs and funding for students, faculty, researchers and others in higher education. Since its’ founding in 1925 the DAAD has supported nearly 1.5 million scholars with funding.

The DAAD also supports the internationalisation of German universities as well as promotes German studies and the German language abroad. In developing countries, the DAAD assists in establishing effective universities and advises decision makers on matters of cultural, education and development policy.
The DAAD runs over 250 programmes, through which it annually funds more than 55,000 German and foreign scholars worldwide. These programmes range from semesters abroad for undergraduates to doctoral programmes, from internships to visiting lectureships, and from information-gathering visits to assisting with the establishment of new universities abroad.
Studying in Germany
Foreign students interested in studying in Germany can now make use of a new website, launched at the end of 2009. Study.in.de is a one-stop-shop for all things related to studying in Germany. The website features course and degree searches, city and university profiles, information about student life as well as a community portal for students.
A further website of particular relevance to undergraduate students from non-EU countries is the website testas.de – the website gives details about the central standardised aptitude test for foreign students. TestAS gives prospective students information about their individual ranking compared to other applicants. Good results can improve the chances of being admitted for studies at a German university.
The DAAD homepage is also a useful resource about studying in Germany and information about scholarships and funding opportunities.
